restoartionAbout: Restoration Ministries is a thriving Christian-based organization located in Harvey, IL. It was established in 1988 with the sole purpose of helping men struggling with addictions. Now 20 years later, Restoration Ministries reaches out to all segments of the population with a special emphasis on at-risk, disadvantaged children and teens.

For children and poor families living in Harvey, a south suburb of Chicago that suffers from common inner-city problems, Restoration Ministries is a beacon of hope. Men and women who have struggled with drug and alcohol addictions see Restoration Ministries as their last chance to turn their lives around.

Restoration’s mission is to restore hope to people while bringing lasting change to the community. Founded on the familiar scripture verse from Matthew 25, Restoration Ministries feeds the hungry both physically and spiritually, welcomes the stranger, clothes the needy and visits the sick.

Through its 26 different programs, Restoration Ministries’ staff and dedicated volunteers serve more than 5,000 people annually many who are considered the least of our brothers– drug addicts, prostitutes, the poor, illegal immigrants and their children, gang bangers, and the lonely and forgotten elderly.

Its flagship facility, known to the community as Harvey House, is home to the Harvey House School of Ministry, a residential training program for men with histories of drug addictions and criminal backgrounds. It is also the site of Restoration Ministries’ food pantry, assistance services, and a comprehensive after-school program.

In addition to the programs located at Harvey House, Restoration Ministries operates Tabitha House, a women’s residential program in South Holland, the Harvey Boxing Club and the Gallery of the Arts Education Center in downtown Harvey, and two thrift stores.

The increasing demand for Restoration Ministries’ unique services and the opportunity to expand the Harvey House campus have led the board of directors to launch a $5 million capital campaign. The campaign will support Restoration Ministries’ efforts to replace the current facilities with a new 25,000 square foot building which will be home to the Harvey House School of Ministry, its after-school program, its food pantry and community outreach programs. The campaign is designed to increase the number of residents in Harvey House, provide much needed additional space for Restoration’s growing after-school program, and enhance Restoration Ministries’ many outreach activities.
